A wonderful holiday weekend… too much food 😊 …. much laughter …. plenty of pastry selections.. and pies! Was so great being surrounded by those I love the most 💕 this Thanksgiving. We had much to be thankful for.

Our Top Chef, Liam sharpened his knives and did a super job carving up Tom, too! 😊 Back in Maine now… time to begin my Xmas shopping.

It’s officially baking season.. did you ever wonder how many Thanksgiving pies were baked annually? I absolutely love this time of year.. it’s my fave holiday. Between the star of the day, Tom and all the side dishes.. that 8pm cup of tea after everything’s quieted down some.. (except for the screams of the sports fans) LOL.. a slice of homemade pie is a real treat!

Eli made the table centerpiece for this year.. he did a great job of it! I’ll be heading south for the holiday and can’t wait to see everyone, again 💕 Have you started your baking?

Last week, as I was heading south, I decided to get off the expressway and do the backwoods, country route instead. I wanted to make a stop at an old mill I use to frequent when we lived in N.H. It’s just so pretty there when the waterfall is running.

Once I arrived, I started snapping photos, as the days are so much shorter now. As I was finishing up something caught my eye, startling me enough to back away. I had just finished taking shots at the waterfall.. so because of my proximity to the water, I took this strange creature to be a water rat. Once I was safely far enough back I kept watching it. This wasn’t his first visit here.. he knew his route very well.. and clearly had a destination in mind.

What the heck?

As it made its way closer it was easier to see this was no rat.. but what the heck was it? It’s snout was similar to that of a squirrel.. but it’s long unfluffy tail had me stumped.

Look who’s watching too!
Best, though fuzzy shot I could grab before he spotted me and boogied away under the building Clem.. the black squirrel.

There was a hanging bird feeder just above him, and he, being no slouch, knew where he could get some primo snacking in.. the little beggar LOL

I finished up and went into the little shoppe and began telling the shopkeeper what I had witnessed. She just smiled and said, “oh that’s just old Clem, our resident black squirrel” who apparently has been stopping by for some time now, as he can’t resist the dry corn kernels in the feeder that spill out onto the stones below. “Clem shows up pretty much daily, she went on to say… in the late afternoon, usually.”
